CERTIFICATION DESCRIPTION

This Online Certification is the first step toward becoming a certified Metacognitive Training (MCT) therapist. This program provides essential knowledge on the background, theory, and evidence behind the intervention, along with step-by-step guidance for effective implementation.

Upon completing the certification, you’ll be equipped with the expertise to begin delivering MCT within your service setting.

This certification includes:

• An overview of cognitive health and cognitive deficits in schizophrenia and related disorders, according to the most recent research.
• The theoretical basis of digital technologies available to deliver cognitive interventions, including that of security and confidentially. Additionally, technical knowledge to use and such tools to deliver MCT.
• The theoretical basis of MCT, evidence of efficacy, mechanism of action and structure of intervention.
• How to plan MCT sessions, how to implement specific MCT techniques (psychoeducation, strategy teaching, biases demonstrations, critical thinking) and how to deal with difficult situations during sessions.

Important: This training is intended to help you get started as an MCT facilitator but does not replace the extensive study of the MCT manual. You will have access to the manual for download once you are enrolled in this certification.

WHY THIS CERTIFICATION MATTERS

To facilitate MCT with clients, you must complete this online training.

Additionally, you must engage in ongoing supervision with an experienced MCT therapist upon starting client work. Our structured supervision plan includes setup sessions and weekly meetings once therapy groups commence.

If you are purchasing for a group of therapists, please note that each therapist is required to complete the training and participate in the supervision sessions—these can be arranged as group sessions.
